"What's going to keep a gay guy from sneaking into my house while I'm asleep and gay marrying me?"

Posted by Ross Feb. 7, 2008 @ 12:56 PM EST

It's no secret that I'm a fan of The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. Stephen's almost always funny (even without writers) but occasionally he goes above and beyond with a segment that makes me laugh until it hurts.

Last night's interview with Human Rights Campaign lobbyist Joe Solmonese was one of those. The Human Rights Campaign works for equal rights for homosexuals and is a good organization - I'm 100% in favor of gay marriage. True to form, one of the best arguments supporting gay marriage is the absurdity of Stephen's arguments against it.

Watch & enjoy. (The Comedy Central video player is a little wonky, you may have to hit reload to get it to start.)

Colbert's interviews are great at making people look stupid, and it is usually the side he is "defending."

My step-mom was worried last night as I watched that, because she was hearing me laugh through the floor. Last night's Stewart+Colbert block was amazing.

The nice bits for The Daily Show: seeing the FOX News camera smashing into some lady, and the extreme voter polling.

Feb. 7, 2008 | 5:14 PM Ross responds:

I had to rewind & watch the part with the camera hitting the lady four times. That was awesome!

Wow... you're absolutely right. That has got to be the funniest Colbert Report interview I have ever seen.

:-)

Man I love that show :) his conservative nature is so hilarious especially when you compare it with John's liberal style.

Feb. 7, 2008 | 7:12 PM Ross responds:

You know that his whole conservative persona is a parody, right? (I've met people who don't realize it.)

Feb. 7, 2008 | 6:08 PM Wiiporter says:

lol. He's such a gop-basher.

Remember that keynote he did at that dinner with Bush? Priceless.

I saw that last night!
I can't wait for the next installment in his "infinite part segment" of better know a lobbyist.

In my opinion The Colbert Report is almost funnier without the writers. Now he reports on more ridiculous stuff, and less on actual news.

I watched that too and couldn't stop laughing. The man's a genius and I love his show. That part was just so funny, I love his interviews because they always have something really funny in them.

I like how he constantly brings up that he has no writers and how he does not need them.

I find it great that he can pop up with ingenious quick wit.

Thanks man, that video brightened up my day! (not in a gay way).

Feb. 8, 2008 | 2:14 PM Reyals says:

So if I decide to use birth control, does that make me gay?

Feb. 9, 2008 | 9:38 AM LtMcMuffin says:

It's true, but some people don't realize he is liberal... but that's all part of his genius. My grandparents think he is making fun of the ultra-conservatives, but still conservative. It keeps me from having to watch Bill O'Reilly when my grandparents visit, so I love Mr. Colbert.
I'll put him as a write-in vote in the upcoming elections. I think a Stephen Colbert/Jello Biafra ticket would go a long way.

Feb. 9, 2008 | 12:12 PM Kangman says:

yeah i know it's a parody and they did it so well, and i cant believe that people wouldnt realize it, after all it is still a comedy

I saw this on TV and I thought it was brilliant.

"Every american deserves equal rights.... Appletini"

The man is a genius and you can't help but liking him because he has such a good face. I didn't think the lobbyist was going to have a good sense of humour because he kept such a straight face but he was such a good sport.
